Hair and soap, or something deeper?
Hair and soap clogs usually sit in the trap, close to the drain. They come on slowly and clear fully once removed.
A deeper clog behaves differently: several drains slow at once, gurgling, or water appearing in the tub when another fixture runs. In older homes the inside of the pipe can narrow with buildup, so clogs return however often the drain is cleared. A camera inspection shows us the inside of the pipe, so you know whether it needs cleaning, hydro-jetting or repair.
Before you reach for drain cleaner
Pull the stopper or hair catcher and clear the hair you can reach. A plastic hair-removal strip works for clogs near the top.

Why is my shower draining slowly?
Most often hair and soap buildup in the trap. If several drains are slow at once, the clog is further down the line.
Can I use drain cleaner on a clogged shower drain?
We don’t recommend it. Chemical cleaners rarely dissolve hair, can damage older pipes and finishes, and leave caustic water in the tub.
Why does water come up in my tub when I flush the toilet?
That’s a classic sign of a main sewer line blockage. Stop using water where you can and call us. See main line cleaning.
How do I know if it’s hair or something deeper?
Hair clogs affect one drain and build slowly. Gurgling, several slow drains, or clogs that return quickly point to a deeper problem a camera inspection can find.
