Clogged Toilet? Pueo Plumbing Clears It Across Oahu

A clogged toilet that won’t flush, or one that backs up every time someone showers, is a call-now problem. Pueo Plumbing clears clogged toilets in Honolulu and across Oahu, checks whether the clog is in the toilet or further down the line, and gives you the price before we start.

Signs it’s more than a simple clog

  • Water rises to the rim when you flush
  • The toilet clears, then clogs again within days
  • Gurgling from the toilet when a sink or shower drains
  • Water comes up in the tub or shower when you flush
  • More than one toilet or drain is slow at the same time
  • A sewage smell in the bathroom

One slow toilet is usually a local clog. Several slow fixtures, or water showing up in the tub, usually point to the main line. Either way, call before it overflows. For every other drain in the house, see our drain cleaning services in Honolulu and across Oahu.

Toilet problems we fix

Toilet won’t flush

Bowl fills and drains slowly, or not at all. We clear the clog and test the flush.

Toilet keeps clogging

A toilet that clogs every week has a reason. We find it, whether it’s the toilet, the drain line or what’s being flushed.

Toilet backing up into the tub

Usually a main line problem, not the toilet. See main line cleaning.

Older toilets and older homes

Older toilets and aging drain lines clog more often. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair or a replacement makes more sense.

Condo and townhome toilets

Many condos share drain lines. We clear the clog and tell you whether the problem is in your unit or the shared line.

Leaks at the base of the toilet

Water around the base after a clog can mean a failed wax ring. See leak detection and repair.

What to do while you wait for us

Stop flushing. Turn the water off at the valve on the wall behind the toilet (turn it clockwise). If the bowl is already full, don’t flush again. A flange plunger is fine to try once or twice.

Skip chemical drain cleaners. They rarely clear a toilet clog, they can damage older pipes, and they make the job dangerous for whoever opens the line next.

When the problem is the main line

If your toilets and showers back up together, or water appears in the tub when you flush, the clog is likely in the main sewer line rather than the toilet. That line gets cleared from a cleanout, sometimes with hydro-jetting and sewer line cleaning, and a camera inspection shows what caused it.

If the camera finds a cracked or root-damaged pipe, trenchless pipe lining can often fix it without digging up your yard. Slow shower too? See clogged shower and tub drains.

How we clear a clogged toilet

1. Find the cause

We check whether the clog is in the toilet, the branch line or the main line before we start.

2. Explain the work

We explain what we found and your options. No upsell you didn’t ask for.

3. Clear it and test it

We clear the clog, flush-test the toilet and the drains around it, and leave the bathroom clean.

Clogged toilet questions

What should I do first if my toilet is about to overflow?

Stop flushing and turn off the water at the valve behind the toilet by turning it clockwise. If you can’t reach the valve, lift the tank lid and press the flapper closed. Then call us.

Is it safe to use chemical drain cleaner in a toilet?

We don’t recommend it. Chemical cleaners rarely clear a toilet clog, they can damage older pipes and seals, and the caustic water makes the clog harder and riskier to clear.

How can I tell a toilet clog from a main line problem?

If only one toilet is slow, it’s usually that toilet. If several drains are slow, the toilet gurgles when other fixtures drain, or water rises in the tub when you flush, it’s likely the main sewer line.

Why does my toilet keep clogging?

Common causes are wipes (even ones labelled flushable), heavy paper use with an older low-flow toilet, objects in the trap, or a partial blockage further down the line. If it keeps coming back, a camera inspection shows us why.
